Here's information on how to select the best skis and the proper poles for you, including how to select ski sizes that match your ability level, gender, and terrain preference. When you're a beginning skier, or just trying out the sport to decide if it's the right one for you, it probably makes sense to rent ski equipment. What are your skiing skills?, 2. How often do you go skiing?, 3. What experience do you have skiing?, 4. What are the routes you most frequently ski (steep, icy, cleaned, etc.)?, 5. How long are you in the market for buying skis?, 6. How often do you want to go skiing?, 7. Are you looking for a specific style of skiing (carving, downhill skiing, acrobatic skiing, etc.)?, 8. Will you make more or less turns?
